For June 5th only? Get Zoom ready!
June 5th, 7 PM
Meeting ID: 894 5205 5933
Since many of us are rather stuck inside looking out, or looking through a sort of face covering, I thought it would be fitting to capture and share our views from our windows. Of course you can draw what you actually see, parts of what you actually see, or what you would prefer to see. Whatever makes you happy! Or contemplative, or human.
I'm going to jump ahead a little here and share the vision before the process. Since printmaking involves multiples, I was thinking it would be interesting to print our window views and exhibit them all together in PrintSpace's window. Printing will be the tricky part and I do not know how to solve that problem since I cannot open the studio up to a group, and don't know when that could happen. I do not expect everyone to run out and order ink and brayers and the optional press either. But you could. OR you could:
Send me your finished plate or drop it in my mailbox if you are a local
Let me play master printer and print 2 of your images
Let me send back your plate and one print
Allow me to hang your 2nd print in my window
When PrintSpace can open up again, you can bring your plates and print away!
First Fridays was established as a way to provide a fun and engaging opportunity to explore some of the printmaking mediums used at PrintSpace. Novice or experienced will both find happiness!
Come on over and join this increasingly popular Bay Ridge event. There's plenty of good conversations shared over a new printmaking technique each month. Learn why printmakers are the best!
Door opens at 6pm, closes at 9pm.
All materials and light snacks provided but BYOBeverage!

Linocut Card Printing I
During our First Friday workshop, we will continue using existing plates to experiment with different inking techniques and to notice how various markings in the linoleum are transferred to the paper. Participants will have a better understanding of how to carve their own linocut should they like to schedule shop time to do so.
Printing from skeleton templates to create versions of Las Calaveras. Choose from different poses to combine or repeat. Add clothing, accessories or backgrounds using collage materials or great crayon rubbing textures.
September 13: (Faux First Friday) Postcard printing from real or wish-listed summer vacations!
June 7: Monoprint Drawings. Experiment with inking a piece of plexiglass placing a paper on top, drawing on the paper and transferring ink to the back of the drawing. And _THEN_, run the plexiglass through the press onto a second paper. And of course, repeat!
May 3rd: Printing from The Home Project: Choose a collagraph plate from The Home Project collection to make your own variable prints. Then join other participants in creating a group or neighborhood print!
April 5th: Tote bag printing: Choose to print from templates provided.
March 1st: Button making: Design and press your own buttons.
